Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am Dr. James H. Chester, Pastor of Orthodox Zion Primitive Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, Florida. Let me take a moment to share with your some very vital and key information.
In May 2008, I was blessed with the opportunity to go on a missionary trip to Uganda with Dr. Henry Krabbendam. There I met several pastors and ministers; also during this time I met Pastor Kimera Henry Benjamin who already started a Community Worship Presbyterian Church in Jinja. At this time they were meeting in rented facilities and had established preaching points to accommodate the growing congregation. They were also in the process of looking to acquire land to build a church in the near future.
Upon my return to the United States through many letters of correspondence, I remained in constant contact with Pastor Benjamin. He informed me he had found new land to build upon, but needed additional financial help. Myself, and others assisted in securing the property through monetary donations. A down payment was eventually made for the property, however, another group made claim to the land, and proceeded to take it from the people of Community Worship Presbyterian Church in Jinja. To prevent this misfortune from happening, I wrote a letter to the Government of Uganda explaining that I was the responsible party for sending the money for the purchase of this land and I have documentation as proof. In order for them to continue using the land they must put up a permanent structure and finish paying for the land at the same time (which is $6,000 US dollars).
Due to several turn of events, the Uganda Government opened up a LTD (cooperation in America) for the church and with Orthodox Zion Primitive Baptist Church being the Mother church. We have continued to send monetary donations toward this cause, but still it isn’t quite enough. In order to use the land temporarily, they need to put in running water and pit latrines (that phase has been accomplished see photos). Next, there is a need to put up a temporary structure for a place for them to worship (that has been accomplished see photos). They are in the process on putting up one permanent building that will house the office and classroom for preschool. There is now over a hundred orphaned children looking to start preschool, but only half of them will be accommodated. Preschool will be starting the end of January 2010. Funds are desperately needed to finish this building.
Community Worship Presbyterian Church in Jinja – is currently under the jurisdiction of Orthodox Zion Primitive Baptist Church and the name cannot be changed because of the existing LTD. However, all future churches will be named as Primitive Baptist Churches.
The church has continued to grow, and has continued to use preaching points where they meet in several locations. This new church is fast growing, and they have need for training for all of the officers. However, to travel back and forth to Uganda is quite expensive. In order to meet the demand of the required training needed and minimize travel, my plan is to use Skype for all future training sessions which will require the use of computers and internet service.
Funds are urgently needed for the land, and successful completion of the new church, preschool, computer equipment, and internet service. Will you please help by giving a donation for the future of the children of Uganda? If you could give up one latte or cup of coffee for one year will go a tremendous long way in Uganda. This is an opportunity to get involved with going into the entire world to spread the gospel.
Thank you for your support, and may God continue to bless you.
